Description: A slide of a black and white photograph showing bomb damage in Belle Vue. Council houses in Norton Street were demolished by one bomb dropped in the early hours of Wednesday 28th August 1940. The highly explosive bomb, dropped by the Luftwaffe (the German airforce), caused considerable damage and injured ten people. Bombs were also dropped in Thornes and Ossett during World War II.
