Description: A black and white photograph showing Wakefield Theatre Royal and Opera House in 1996, taken from Smyth Street car park. The Opera House was designed by Frank Matcham and opened on Monday October 15th 1894. During the 1980s and 1990s, the theatre's restaurant was named Matcham's after the architect.
