“ROLL OF HONOUR
CUNLIFFE
In loving memory of my dear husband Private David Cunliffe York and Lancaster Regiment, of New Crofton who was killed in action on September 24th 1918.
He fought and died a hero
Somewhere in France in a soldier’s grave
Lies my dear husband amongst the brave
O God how mysterious and strange are thy ways
To take my dear husband in the best of his days
Gone but not forgotten
From his sorrowing Wife and four Children.”
