His Military Service Record shows that he enlisted in 1915 when he was only 16 years of age and he was discharged in October 1915. He re-enlisted at Pontefract in the 1st Garrison Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment, Alexandra Princess of Wales Own, service number 22330. He was formerly service number 2832 of the Yorkshire Light infantry.
He died on 3rd November 1918 and is commemorated on the Karachi 1914-1918 War Memorial. This memorial commemorates 575 Commonwealth casualties. Initially the memorial was designed to commemorate those who served in garrisons and died in Pakistan (formerly part of India) during the 1914-1918 War and who lie buried in civil and cantonment cemeteries there.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission gives his surname as Atkins.

Frank Harold Atkin was born in Sheffield in 1899, the son of Frank Lonza Atkin and Adelaide Smithey, who married on 3rd April 1899 at St Andrew’s Church, Ferrybridge. In the 1911 census he is shown living with his parents and sibling at Hill Street, Sheffield.
