Gunner Kenneth Garbutt Hargrave was serving with the 162 Battery 61st Light Anti Aircraft / Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery when he died on 9th August 1947 age 18. On the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website he is named as Hargraves. He was buried at Fayid War Cemetery, Egypt Plot 6 Row D Grave 6.

“Mrs L Pickersgill of 29 Broomhill Walk, Knottingley has received a telegraph from the War Office informing her with regret of a report dated 9th August from the Middle East, intimating that her eldest son Gunner K Hargreaves had died from accidental gun shot wounds. Gunner Hargreaves who was 18 went to the Middle East last January and served first in Palestine. At the time of his death he was stationed in Egypt. He was educated at the Ropewalk Modern School, and before joining the army was employed at the Crystal Glass Company, Knottingley.”

In the second quarter of 1932 Ida Irene Hargrave married Lewis Pickersgill.
