War Service

There are no details of when and how he joined the Regiment but it was thought that he was taken prisoner and may have died in a Prisoner of War Camp.

Family Life

Leslie was a local boy who lived with his parents, Joseph Henry and Georgina, and his twin brother John in Hare Park View or Walton View. He was always very happy-go-lucky in his school days.
It is thought that Leslie worked at Walton Pit after leaving school. He was quite short – about 5 feet 4 inches – but growing.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission state that Leslie was killed on 4th August 1942, when he was 21 years old. He is buried at the Ranchi War Cemetery in India.
