“MISSING IN INDIA
The accompanying photograph is Rifleman Rowland Scholes, of the 1st Battalion of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) who is reported to have been missing in India since March 30th. He is the youngest son of Mr & Mrs E Scholes of 32, Broomhill Walk, Knottingley and formerly was employed by Messrs Bagley and Co, Knottingley. Joining the Forces in 1928, he has been in India for three years. Two brothers are also in the Forces.”

“GOOD NEWS
Rifleman R Scholes, who was reported missing on June 14th is safe and well. He was evacuated from Burma and admitted to hospital in India suffering from malaria. He has been discharged from hospital and is now at General Headquarters in India.”
