“YOU WILL LAUGH
“You will laugh when you see it” says Pte W Brook in a letter to his mother Mrs A Brook of 11, Banks’ Garth, Knottingley, written from a hospital in India. Private Brook has been wounded and is injured in the knee by shrapnel and says he is starting to walk about again and hopes to go to “the pictures” very soon. “I have been passing my time with needlework and you will laugh when you see it.” Pte Brook, who is in the Lincolnshire Regiment, was a bricklayer with Messrs H & H Fairbairn of Knottingley, from leaving school until he joined the Forces. He was wounded on April 8th.”
