A view of Wakefield and All Saints Parish Church

A drawing of a view of Wakefield, circa 1843, drawn by Rev Thomas Kilby, showing Pindar Fields.  Tradition has it that here, the Pindar of Wakefield defended the rights of the citizens against Robin Hood and his companions.  In the centre can be seen the Parish Church of All Saints, parts of which date back to Norman times, on the site of an Anglo Saxon church.  in 1888, it became the Cathedral Church of the new Diocese of Wakefield.
