Hemsworth Colliery

A black and white photograph showing Hemsworth Colliery. The pit headgear can be seen to the left and the boilerhouse chimney is to the right. The railcars that hold the coal have 'Hemsworth' or 'Ramskir' painted on them. The pit was sunk between 1876 and 1877 and was finally closed in 1967. The land has since been redeveloped.
