Conservation Areas and Local List

What is a Conservation Area?

Conservation Areas are areas of villages, towns and cities that are recognised and protected for their historical importance. There are currently 31 conservation areas in the Wakefield District. Find out more on the Wakefield Council website - Conservation areas - Wakefield Council

Local listing

Wakefield Council also have a Local List of buildings that do not meet the strict criteria for national listing, but have been identified as having particular local heritage importance. This list is not currently available online, but the Wakefield Council Conservation Team hopes to make it available online in the future.
