War Service

Charles E Winter served with 7th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment. He died on 30th May 1943 age 19 and was buried on 4th June 1943 in Ferrybridge Cemetery, grave 196. He died in Methley Hall Hospital and he is listed as a Soldier and Glassworker. Although I have found no written evidence, there is oral suggestion that he was accidentally shot in his bunk.

Family Life

Charles E Winter was born in the fourth quarter of 1924 and his birth was registered at Pontefract. His mother was Lily Winter who, in the first quarter of 1934, married Charles E West and their marriage was registered at Pontefract. Lily Winter was the sister of Annie Eliza Winter who married Carter Lindley.
