“A SECOND SON WOUNDED
Mr & Mrs H T Smithey of 35 Houghton Avenue, Ferrybridge, have received notification that their youngest son Private Horace Smithey of the KOSB, has been wounded in Western Germany, and is now in hospital in this country. He has been in the Army 18 months, three of which he has spent abroad. He previously worked at Jackson glassworks, Knottingley and was a member of the NFS for three years. He is the second son in the family to be wounded within a month, for his brother Thomas, is also in a military hospital. Other sons are Edward in Germany; Ernest in Italy; and William in England.”
