Jack Skinner joined the 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment as a Lance Corporal, service number 201624. He died on 25th June 1918 and was buried at Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles.
Family Life
Jack Skinner was born in the fourth quarter of 1898 and his birth was registered at Wakefield. He was the son of Edward and Ada Skinner. Edward Skinner and Ada Blakey had married in the third quarter of 1890 and their marriage was registered at Wakefield.
In the 1911 census the family were living at Water Orton Road, Mimsworth (Aston), West Bromwich. Jack is shown as School (Newsboy).
It is unknown now as to why Jack is commemorated on the Ferrybridge War Memorial. The only reasoning so far is that his brother Edward married Violet Smith in 1918 and their marriage was registered at Pontefract.
